Privacy Policy

Last updated: 3 July 2026

Unscheme helps you discover government welfare schemes you may be eligible for and guides you on how to apply through official channels. To do that, we need to process some of your personal data. This policy explains what we collect, why, how we protect it, and the rights you have under Indian law, including the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (DPDP Act).

Unscheme does not submit applications to any government body on your behalf. Eligibility results shown in the app are informational guidance only and are not a government determination of your entitlement.

Data we collect

We only collect data that you choose to give us:

Why we process this data

We use your data solely to provide the service: matching you against scheme eligibility criteria, showing you relevant schemes, storing your profile and documents so you can prepare applications, and maintaining your personal dashboard. We do not sell your data or use it for advertising.

Where your data is stored and how it is protected

Your data is stored in Google Firebase (Firestore and Cloud Storage). Access is restricted to your own signed-in account; all writes go through our servers with ownership checks. Bank account numbers are encrypted at rest with AES-256-GCM. Data in transit is protected with TLS.

Who we share data with

We share data only with the infrastructure providers needed to run the service: Google Firebase (authentication, database, storage), Vercel (hosting), and Sanity (marketing content on our homepage — no personal data). We may disclose data if required by law. We never share your data with agents, middlemen, or third parties for marketing.

Your rights

You can access and correct your data at any time from your dashboard. You can delete your account and all associated data (profiles, documents, bank details, activity) from Settings → Account; deletion is immediate and permanent. You may also withdraw consent by deleting your account. To exercise any other right under the DPDP Act, or to raise a grievance, contact us at the address below.

Retention

We keep your data for as long as your account exists. When you delete your account, your data is deleted from our systems. Backup copies held by our infrastructure providers are deleted on their standard schedules.

Children

Unscheme is intended for adults. If you add a child as a beneficiary profile, you confirm that you are their parent or lawful guardian.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we will update this page and revise the date above. Material changes will be announced in the app.
